ABOUT FAIRBANKS GUITARS

FOUNDER

DALE FAIRBANKS

My entrance to the wide world of guitar making began with my very early interest in music. The trumpet carried me from the age of 9 through to the Berklee College of Music in 1993, earning some money here and there playing  trumpet and saxophone in jazz and Latin bands in southern New England.

Along the way, I picked up an interest in early American blues and ragtime, and the instruments of the legendary players of the genre. I built my first guitar somewhere around the turn of this century: a black topped, mahogany L-OO.

That guitar has since self-destructed, yet through a long and lonely journey of trial and error, many false starts, and absolute obsession with what gives those pre-war guitars that thing they have that is so elusive and irresistible, I have settled into a life building what I like to call the best modern reproductions of the coolest guitars ever built. I trust you’ll like them, too.
